Our Story
Mission: To connect people through creative experiences and unique events in an innovative park setting.
Vision: Creating a world where our community can express, experiment, and engage through the arts.
About Boardman Arts Park: The Arts Park began in 2017 as a volunteer organized effort to reclaim an unused green space and now has transformed into an outdoor art exhibit and event venue bringing the arts, community and new visitors into the City of Delaware.
The 2.2 acre green space is filled with unique art pieces, walking paths, and benches. Annual events are held including the Delaware County Beer & Wine Festival, CREATE! Event and Ghost Walk; as well as art and yoga classes, concerts and socials. The Park is a 501c3 non profit organization.
What we do
Our main areas of activity
- Innovative and interactive outdoor art gallery conveniently close to downtown that showcases rotating exhibits in a park environment;
- Opportunities for the community to create exhibits for the Park grounds;
- Dynamic art structures that invite and encourage hands-on activity and engagement by all;
- Multi-use venue for classes, concerts and unique events near the heart of downtown Delaware;
- Safe and accessible green space for recreation and relaxation. Family Play & meals, exercise, dog walks, yoga, quiet contemplation, and more.
Park history
The Park is located where the old West/Boardman Elementary School used to be from 1905 - 1979. The West School had 12 classrooms and was later changed to Ruth Boardman Elementary School in honor of the long time principal. The building was demolished in 1979 and currently the property belongs to Delaware City Schools and is leased to Boardman Arts Park Inc.
Visit the Park's Winter St entrance and see an original school building brick in our newly formed pathways engraved to honor the school.
