About the Artist: Dina Zaman is a Bangladeshi-American visual artist and storyteller whose work spans across continents, cultures, and communities. Having created and exhibited art in both Bangladesh and the United States—as well as in numerous other countries—her diverse experiences have shaped a broad, inclusive practice. Dina’s figurative works center on themes of women’s lives, resilience, and empowerment, often reflecting the stories of refugees, immigrants, women, and children. Through her art, she explores identity, migration, and transformation. Over the years, her work has been recognized with multiple awards and featured in exhibitions across various U.S. states and international venues.
Activity: Come to the SW corner of Boardman Arts Park on CREATE! Day to celebrate and memorialize your former pets. Artist, Kris Kolb will be assisting both children and adults in making decorative tags that are meant to be hung on the new Rainbow Bridge, designed to honor our pets. This quiet corner of the park will feature a pollinator garden and a bench near the bridge, for people to come and reflect, remember, and heal.
What’s the Rainbow Bridge? According to the poems and stories, it’s the meadow where our pets go to wait on us when they die. There’s a beautiful meadow where they can run and play, their health restored, and wait on their humans. When they are reunited, humans and pets cross over the Rainbow Bridge together to Paradise. And let’s face it; it wouldn’t be Paradise without our beloved pets.
About the Artist: Being born in the Glass Capital of the World (Toledo, Ohio) may have had something to do with Kris Hyland Kolb’s love of glass. She has made art with blown glass, leaded glass, slumped glass, and etched glass and has been collecting beach glass for most of her life. After retiring from 35 years of teaching art for the Marion City Schools, where she taught jewelry, photography, and graphic design at Marion Harding High School, she signed up for a jewelry course at Ohio Wesleyan University with professor Cynthia Cetlin. It was here where she was encouraged to start creating something with her sea glass collection. Now, several years later, she sells her jewelry from New England to Key West, from the US Virgin Islands to Canada, from the Midwest to the West Coast. Sea glass is nature’s way of recycling our trash into beautifully colored and textured gems, so she thinks of herself as a recycling artist.
Activity: Put buttons on our new Panda structure to make a new beautiful art piece for the Park! Constructed out of plywood and painted on both sides, the entire surface of the Panda will then be covered in various buttons which will then be sealed in with an epoxy substance.
About the Artist: Patricia Quinn
Activity: Step into a world of color, imagination, and transformation! Using humble Wedi board and a whole lot of creativity, we’re building something magical! Giant butterfly wings that will come to life through the hands of our youngest artists.
Each child will have the joy of painting a unique piece of the wings, splashing it with their own colors, patterns, and personality. When all the pieces are joined together, they’ll form a magnificent mural. A place where anyone can stand and become the butterfly.
Come paint, play, and watch as our community’s creativity takes flight. 🦋

About the Artists: Chuck Laurence has always been interested in woodworking and carving. He and his youngest son would watch Norm Abram’s New Yankee Workshop and Roy Underhill’s Woodright Shop. One day his son asked him to build a workbench that Norm had built, and the rest is history. That was over 30 years ago, and his son still uses the workbench. Since then, he has built numerous pieces of furniture and household items. For many years he was a Boy Scout leader and attended Summer Camp with the boys. In many instances, the boys working on the Woodcarving merit badge would borrow his Exacto knives and we would discuss how to carve their project. Since there is no more room in his home for furniture, his woodworking interests have moved towards Intarsia (creating pictures by inlaying different colored woods), scroll sawing, and wood carving.
Keith Radick studied fine arts at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio prior to spending a career in the environmental field. Upon retirement, he returned to his artistic roots finally selecting sculpture as his discipline and wood as his favored medium. His current studies have taken him all over the eastern United States and Mexico, working with some of the best known wood artists in the world.
Antoinette Miller has ventured into several different artistic mediums such as
photography, ceramics, sewing, drawing, painting in acrylic, stained glass and watercolors.
Woodcarving is a new artistic venture and love for her. She first saw three carved Santa’s hanging
on a Christmas Tree at SourcePoint in Delaware. Lo and behold a small card was attached and
it was an invitation to join a class. Well, she was hooked! Carving has introduced her to many wonderful people, and she truly enjoys classes working side-by-side with them to learn this art.
Other interests are sailing, walking, handbells, singing (Delaware Chorus), acting (Arena Fair),
bicycling, swimming … "I am having a 'full' life!"
Local Powell-based artisan, Darice Allard, has been honing her woodcarving skills since 2015 when her aging parents relocated to Powell and Darice became part of her father’s woodcarving community. She was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from her father – the master himself – and from his accomplished circle of friends at many events when their diverse talents and works of art were featured. Darice’s family, her accomplished nursing career and caring for her parents left little time for her to pursue her newly found passion, but since retiring Darice has happily discovered her creative talents in woodcarving and other mediums that reflect her interests and distinctive artist flair. Darice joyfully shares her art with you in hopes that it can bring you as much pleasure as she experienced while creating it.
