This year the Maypole dancing will be performed by Woodward Elementary's 3rd graders! This folk dance is performed around a tall decorated pole with hanging ribbons that are woven into patterns by the dancers.
Come and say hello to our special guest, Ernest Nkwocha, the artist of Princess the Unicorn art sculpture, is joining us all the way from Nigeria to be our May Day Prince!
The Park is the location of where the old West/Boardman Elementary School used to be from 1904 - 1979. Every year the school would put on a May Day Program including a May Pole Dance and Boardman Arts Park brought back that tradition in 2018, working with local elementary schools to perform the dance every year.
Free popcorn will be available and the Ciao Cafe gelato cart will be available for purchase!
Special thanks to Creative Foundations for making our May Day pole topper!
